For anyone who thinks being stuck behind slow-moving pedestrians is the absolute worst thing in this entire world, the recent introduction of the UK’s first footpath fast-line will no doubt come as exciting news.

UK retailer Argos painted a prototype of the lane outside their Liverpool store, and shoppers are currently being invited to trial the lane to see whether they like it. Chances are they will, with a recent study by the company finding that 28.8 million Britons were in favour of pedestrian ‘fast lanes’ installed at their local high streets.

The research by Argos also revealed the other bugbears consumers had, which include pavement hoggers, middle-of-the-street chatterers, waiting in queues, carrying heavy shopping bags, people checking their phones, and navigating huge stores. They’re all ridiculously minor and trivial things to have a whinge about, but I guess everyone’s guilty of a bit of footpath rage every now and then.

Have a look at photos of the fast-lane footpath in the gallery above, and see whether something like that needs to be installed at your local shopping strip.
